Water

In common with most allotments, our water suply will be cut off during the winter. Although plants will not need watering, keep a bucket full for washing tools and a bottle for topping up the bird bath, If you are growing plants under cover keep a small supply of water available.

Antiseptic wet wipes may clean your hands but a flask of warm water is a very useful way of warming them..

If you take a gas stove to the allotment remember to bring the gas canisters back with you after every visit. If not a self-igniting burner take a lighter or damp proof your matches with wax. Always use the stove in a well ventilated area.

The advent of frost and the subsequent bursting of pipes is also an issue domestically. Remember to turn off outside taps.

Mudlarks asks trainees and volunteers to provide their own hot drinks as Vic is limited as to what she can bring with her on her bike.
