April News
'I hope that you're all well and enjoying the warmer weather. We were in t-shirts this week. Hurrah!
The farmers' market was a great success. We had fun preparing all the produce for the market, with lots of mothers' day gifts, bird feeders and plants. Jackie collected horse shoes from the stables which we painted and they looked beautiful.
On site the new sheds are looking fabulous and the compost toilet is very popular.
We have put up a greenhouse which was funded by the Ernest Ingham Charitable Trust.
We are in the process of putting in funding applications for the tea shed, and hope to start construction in May.
Other wonderful donations have come in from Eileen Treacy, Antony Henn from Gardensforlife, and Nutwood Constructions. Thank you so much. Every donation makes such a difference to all the people on site.
Also thanks to Keith Seaman, who is the ecologist who carried out our reptile survey.
We have begun constructing our ramp, which will make life easier for people who find stairs difficult, and for anyone with a wheelbarrow or push chair trying to get onto the allotments. Kev and Sandy spent a whole weekend digging and levelling the ramp. Thank you so much. It will be for ever known as Kev and Sandy's Yellow Brick Road!
Now we are looking forward to warmer weather and planting our beds. Everyone is working hard weeding and potting seeds, and Allan is doing a tremendous job sifting the soil for the beds.
We have received funding from the District Council for a summer scheme this year, which will be for 16 to 19 year olds.
Thank you to everyone.
Happy Spring!'

A real team effort by trainees, volunteers and staff preparing the potted plants and craft items.
The Farmers Market is a big event in our calendar and we all take great pride in learning new skills and preparing for the day.
